Here, we highlight a flawlessly curated mixed drink list, enlivened by the concept of “Liquid Surreality”; while instituting an intimate and vibrant bar that soaked with the memory of the building. Locating on the 4th and 5th floor of the POTONG building, we combine the concept of opulent New York hangout space and the spirit of late-night Chinatown Bangkok. This place is ideal for an aperitif before a meal, after-dark experiences, or late-night soirees.

Meet Matteo - Our head bartender and the smile behind the bar, happiest when the bar is at its busiest. Originally from Italy, before moving to Amsterdam and developing a career in mixology in Australia, Singapore, and Mumbai; finding love for crafting and creating cocktails. Matteo’s found us and become a key member of our Opium Bar where he found a passion and flair for creating and developing unique cocktails. He is a very sociable person, outgoing, creative, and always experimenting with unusual flavor combinations.
Meet the Man Behind the Bar
Born and raised in France, as a passionate restaurateur and bar owner, Arnon Hoontrakul (KK) owns several restaurants, bar, and coffee shops across Thailand and France. He travels regularly abroad, and around the world to keep him on top of the game and fuel himself with motivations to carry groundbreaking plans to Thailand’s bar scene.
His imagination of “Opium Bar” besets in the heart and history of the POTONG building. This 5-story-tall building has a tale of its own; from one age to another. When opium was still legal, this very room of the building, where the bar is located, was utilized for the smoking of opium. Truly inspiring, he conceptualizes the idea of “Opium Bar” using the concept of “Fluid Surreality” that will transport visitors to travel back as if to an excursion of Opium itself.
